I have to many years Diablo 2 LOD, after years without playing I decided to install the game again, I have the installation CD and the expansion Lord of Destruction, but I lost my play disc and because of this I cannot perform the installation, I have the CD-Keys of the installation CD and the expansion set, so I lost my LOD 'play disc' game. Install Diablo, configure DX settings the way you like (recommended video settings: 800x600, 60 Hz) - download Hellfire ISO from here (which has a.bin and a.cue file) - mount and install Hellfire ISO using the.cue file - copy the following files from your Diablo dx directory to your Hellfire directory: ddraw.dll, dxcfg.exe, dxcfg.ini. Do NOT attempt to play Battle.Net this way. You risk a ban!
This hack requires you to be running Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (not classic!) on patch 1.12a.
Connecting to Battle.net will update your client to 1.13 which is incompatible with D2MultiRes at this time.
Download a mod, D2MultiRes.
Extract it to your game directory, and launch using D2MultiResGame.exe. Once you start a game, there will be a new “resolution” option in the video options menu. Select it, and resolutions above 800×600 will be available.
The readme warns that you may get bad graphics glitches in Direct3D mode. I did, myself. Refer to additional screenshots. But when I switched to DirectDraw 2D mode, it worked just fine. You can set this by running D2VidTst.exe. Sadly, DirectDraw 2D disables parallax scrolling and other visual effects.
Lacking Direct3D mode is a pretty big one. But everything else seems fine.
Side-screens like inventory retain their original size, but take up half the screen with a tiled background (they originally took up half a 640×480 screen without needing any tiled background).
The HUD keeps its original size, with the life/mana spheres anchored to the corners, and the stamina and potions anchored to the bottom-center. And the map is pixel based.

FMVs run at 640×480, but are hard-letterboxed to a theatrical 2.20:1. This means windowboxing on wide monitors.

PLAY IN WINDOWED MODE...
To play in widnowed mode is simple... Just go to the shortcut/icon where you normally start DiabloII from, Right click it. Click Properties... open the 'Shortcut' tab.... when there you will see a textbox labeled Target and it should be C:Program FilesDiablo IIDiablo II.exe' or something along the lines o this.... and alls you do is add a -w at the end of it.. so the final product would be C:Program FilesDiablo IIDiablo II.exe' -w

PLAY WITHOUT CD
You must first have the Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction disk to do this.....
Instructions!!
1: Insert the Diablo2 Lord of Destruction into your disk drive.....
2: Go to My Computer
3: Open the Diablo 2 Lod Disk 'as in View the files on the disk'
4: Once inside you will need to copy 2 files 'D2XVideo.MPQ' and 'D2XMusic.MPQ'
5: Now navigate to your Diablo II folder... Default is C:Program FilesDiablo II
6: Just paste them in...
7: Enjoy!!! you should now be able to play without a disk!!!
